INTRODUCTION

The Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust Endocrine Unit encompasses the endocrine services at Charing Cross Hospital,
Queen Charlotte's Hospital and The Hammersmith Hospital.
Prof.Bloom It enjoys a worldwide reputation for clinical excellence and research. It is the largest multi-disciplinary clinical and academic Endocrine Unit within the UK and as such provides a unique opportunity for Specialist Registrar (SpR) training in all aspects of General Internal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology. The Endocrine Unit is part of Imperial College School of Medicine, the biggest medical school in the country. Of the hundreds of institutions of higher education, Imperial College is now ranked second in both academic and clinical activity, and hence is recognised as one of the leading academic centres worldwide.

This booklet gives an indication of the training opportunities for endocrine SpRs at Charing Cross Hospital, Queen Charlotte's Hospital and The Hammersmith Hospital. It highlights the particular areas of clinical training that can be obtained within this hospital group that are not universally available in other units. The sheer size and diversity of our Endocrine Unit has resulted in only a proportion of The Unit's work being included in this prospectus, which mainly focuses on the clinical opportunities the department has to offer. We hope you find this booklet both useful and informative. If you still have questions and queries you wished answered, we would be happy to answers these on an individual basis.
